*** Tip of the week - oven switches! *** The most common fault with ovens tends to be heat elements failing, which is generally a very cost effective repair to have done!😀 Another issue I come across is faulty function selector switches. Again this is generally a cost effective repair, however this very simple tip could help prolong the life of the switches on your oven... Simply set the switch to the function you need it on (grill, fan oven, etc...) BEFORE you set the temperature, then set the temp to whatever you need it at. Then once you have finished cooking, switch the temp back to 0 (or off position) BEFORE changing the position of the function switch. Then change the function switch to off (or another setting) and that's it!!👍 The reason for this is that once the thermostat is switched on (via the temp setting switch - generally indicated by a light coming on) there is a high current load going across the contacts in the selector switch, and by moving the the switch through different positions with the current on it can cause something referred to as arcing and with time this can damage the switch contacts. But don't worry if you are experiencing any problems with your electric oven/cooker then more often than not it can be repaired at a very reasonable price.
