Finishing off an exceptionally busy quarter, and with two rounds of colds in a last 3 weeks, it's been a push to get everything finished. More of a chance for reflection and pause is needed to look back on the year. Just too busy at present. However, finishing off all the detailed working drawings for this beautiful house in Keynsham. Working with the clients we really pushed and discussed their brief, working out how we could make the best possible use of their plot and garden. The result is some really meaningful alterations in two phases to help the clients make changes now and also have a long term plan for the future! Not every project is huge and far-reaching, but it's wonderful to be able to help people make positive changes to their homes. I love helping people make the best of their spaces with thoughtful well laid out plans even if/when large extensions are not the only answer.

Do you come to us for meetings?
We have designed our service offering to be as convenient for clients as possible, which is why we tend to present to clients at their homes, workplaces, or wherever is easiest for them to meet. Alternatively, we can present in our studio here in Bath, or remotely in a hired space.
I don't know how much I have to spend, does that matter?
The budget for every project will be based on various factors, including available resources, sensible investment level and possible returns. Some clients have a fixed amount to spend on a home for life and are less concerned about over-investing, others are planning on selling soon after completion and therefore a balance of spend and possible return is essential. We can help you understand the possible costs involved and, in doing so, help you to develop a budget which is sensible for your project.
How much does an interior designer cost?
Many interior designers either charge per hour, per room, or as a percentage of the overall cost of the project. The former is difficult for a client to understand how much they will spend overall. The latter two do not take into consideration the scope of the individual project. There is no industry standard sadly, as there is more widely in architecture, and the range in pricing is huge. We feel it is much fairer after an initial free consultation to estimate our time input, relating to the scope of work for that individual project, and give a fixed fee for each stage. There is no obligation to hire us, or if you do, to engage us for every stage.
After agreeing a fee proposal - then what?
We come back to meet with again. During this meeting, we run through a detailed briefing process to gain as deep an understanding as possible about your hopes and needs. We then either undertake a survey of the affected parts of the property, or arrange for a professional surveyor to measure the property in full depending on the scale and complexity of the site. This information forms the basis for our design work and from this point we begin to develop the design alongside research into the relevant planning and other factors that may affect the build.
What architecture design styles do you design?
Our project sites are very varied, from old houses full of character to modern dwellings or simply empty pieces of land. Our architectural atyle responds very much to context, be it an existing building or the natural surroundings. We always propose a style which we think suits your site and your brief.
