Expert Architects in Guildford

PLANNING PERMISSION Lytle Associates Architects were introduced to this site in the Guildford Town Centre Conservation Area with a poor planning history. We achieved a planning consent via appeal for the redevelopment of the site, demolishing the existing derelict locally listed public house and replacing it with a new four-storey, mixed-use development that provides a commercial unit at street level and apartment living above. Building massing diagrams helped clarify the initial intentions of maintaining the existing building line, ensuring that the proposals respected the views along Sydenham Road and key views over the top of the proposed building to the wider town from Bright Hill. Materials were chosen to respond to the remaining Victorian brick facades in the street whilst providing a contemporary response. Sustainable technologies will be incorporated into the build, including solar PVs and air source heat pumps providing alternative energy provision.
