We were immensely proud and privileged to host a visit by the highest-ranking serving soldier from the British Army to visit Llanelec, Major General Darren Crook CBE. Accompanied by Major Nicholas Peck, we had the pleasure to showcase our capabilities and potential of our new facility, presenting the growth and expansion that was considered during the design to ensure the legacy and future proofing of our company. During the visit we had the opportunity to deep dive into our Roadwheel capability. This involved explaining our unique rubber moulding and bonding process, as well as our purpose-built Thermal Spraying cell. Both processes are used in our new and refurbished Challenger Roadwheel production lines. We demonstrated how we had developed the Thermal Spraying technique to provide the Hard Facing wear strip, which protects the wheel whilst on the vehicle. We highlighted the wider applicability of the Thermal Spraying process and how our unique approach improves reliability. All our Roadwheels are tested to the highest standards and meet the UK MOD Military Vehicle Engineering and Establishment (MVEE) specification 1000 requirement, for both Bond Strength and Endurance. It was fantastic to see such a senior figure from the British Army give up so much of their time for an SME, engaging and interacting with our workforce. The day had such a positive impact, and our teams were left in no doubt how valued they are for Defence.
