As furniture ages, we're often left with odd pieces we don't know what to do with but are too good to throw away. These chairs were the only survivors from a dining set. My client was doing a makeover on her children's bedroom and decided upcycled chairs would be the perfect addition as well as a nice surprise for the kids. We emailed back and forth with our ideas and struck on using a block colour with the fabric as the main event. I researched childrenʼs fabric and found a lovely company called Martha and Hepsie which designs bold patterns suitable for kids. The chairs were sturdy, so after sanding, prepping and undercoating the woodwork I applied several coats of Fusion in Azure blue and made up the pink using Fort Red, Casement and Raw Silk. I re-covered the seat pads and made matching cushions from the leftover fabric. My super cute mini clients were so excited to start using them!
