When you notify an insurance claim to your insurance company, they will sometimes instruct a loss adjuster to deal with your claim on their behalf. When the loss adjuster receives the instruction they will contact you and arrange a visit to assess the damage, and put a plan in place for repairing the insured work. The loss adjuster may then appoint an approved contractor to attend site and scope the works required within the insurance claim, contractors such as ourselves. Once we have attended site, we develop a schedule of works which is then passed back to the insurance company for authorisation. Once authorisation has been granted by the insurance company, TMH Construction will deal with all agreed work. The simple answer is yes. TMH Construction regularly carry out private, uninsured works for policyholders. Private works happen often during insurance related works, usually due to policyholders seeing first-hand how we deal with building works, and feeling reassured by the fact that we are vetted and trusted by loss-adjusters and insurers. On some occasions, the insurance related works will take priority, but this will be taken into account on case-by-case basis.

Although we cannot give you a definitive timescale of how long the authorisation process will take, the appointed loss adjustor will do everything they can to authorise the works as quickly as possible. At TMH we work to pre-registered Service Level Agreement (SLA) timescales, ensuring that from our end, your claim will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

The extent of the damage will depend primarily on how long the works will take to be carried out. All works that have been authorised and booked in with policyholders will be subjected to our rigorous project management and timescale planning, ensuring that all proposed works are carried out at a time and date to suit you as the policyholders. Asbestos content within Artex is usually minimal, however HSE advise it must be tested.
