Below ground drains were damaged and blocked. Hard cement render had been applied to the traditionally constructed walls built with lime mortar inducing damp at the walls base and the exterior has been painted with a modern synthetic plastic paint. No wonder there are problems. nnThe Solution: Plastic downpipes have been removed and replaced with traditional larger cast iron pipes with sealed joints. The drains been opened up, cleared of debris repaired and are now functioning properly. The cement render has been removed and the walls raked out and repointed with a sympathetic lime mortar.
