How far from my house or a dwelling does a Sewage Treatment Plant or Septic tank have to be installed? Building Regulations state that a Sewage Treatment Plant or Septic Tank must be installed at least 7 meters from any habitable building. If this is not possible at your site, you will need to speak to your Building Control inspector to see if an exception can be made. Generally, if you have no other option for installation, then the 7-meter rule can be compromised. If however, you want the tank closer for aesthetic or non-essential reasons the 7 meter is unlikely to be compromised. As part of all our Installations, we include guaranteed building control sign-off. This is achieved through consultation with our professional partners to ensure a hassle-free and compliant installation.
