•Double Herringbone• This project has been in the pipe lines for a few months now as there was a few challenges to overcome. Firstly the property was built in the 1890’s and neither me or the client wanted to take the skirtings off. We decided the best way to go forward would be to undercut them so the flooring would be able to sit underneath. Although this was time consuming, noisy and frankly backbreaking it was completely the right decision. The flooring sits perfectly under the skirting without having to pin on a scotia or moulding. Secondly the client and I were worried that laying a traditional herringbone pattern would make these three areas look very narrow so we decided double herringbone would help widen these spaces. When we arrived on site we played around with the setting some more and finally decided we would also lay the pattern east to west to give the illusion of more width. Taking the extra time to understand our clients vision has helped create this stunning, free following and spatial floor.
