✨Village hall Restoration in Grantham✨ This old herringbone pine parquet floor was covered in 100+ years of polish which has caused the floor to look very dark. Previous sanding and wear has also given the floor a very uneven/un level finish. The difficulty with this floor is some of the blocks are now extremely thin and other still thick with plenty of wear left. This being the case we couldn’t risk completely sanding down the level of the floor incase we went through some of the blocks, also all felt (Hemmings) and the village hall committee that the floor being completely level would lose some of the character of the floor. Taking all these things into account it made the sanding process a little different than normal. The team initially went over the floor with the belt sanders with a 40 grit on low pressure, to remove as much polish of the top of the surface. Next it was onto the hand sanders throughout the full 150sqm to remove the finish from the lower points in the wood, we tried the Spider and Flexisand we would normally use but it wasn’t touching the low points enough Once the finish was full removed, the team then carefully went through the grit sequence as normal. Finally the Parquet was water popped and treaded with Pallmann Magic Oil Ergo. We’ve provided maintenance cleaner and Magic Oil care with aftercare advice.
