Feeling overwhelmed by the task and not sure where to start is a problem shared by many. If you are feeling overwhelmed by clutter, then here are some ideas to help you begin dealing with it: 1. Set aside time (regularly if possible) to declutter – write it in your diary / planner like you would an appointment so you hold yourself accountable. 2. Start with one small area at a time – for example, a drawer or shelf or one small section of a room 3. Take photos before you start and then as you complete a section – it will remind you of the progress made and encourage further action. 4. Decide on an exit strategy for items to go – decide which charity shop you will take things to (check opening hours) / research recycling options and then let items go as soon as possible so you begin to see space. 5. Enlist support from a friend / family member /a professional organiser if you are struggling to make decisions or stay focused. As they say a problem shared is a problem halved.
