I had an interesting job today. A Nissan Qashqai, that had a failed steering lock and central locking along with a problem with the ignition where it was trapping the key. I removed the ignition from the car and dismantled it. Upon separating the parts, I noticed a part had broken in to multiple pieces. I replaced the broken part and put it all back together. Once back together, and the key inserted, the steering lock was working and the key was no longer getting trapped. I then cut a new key and replaced the case and buttons on the remote so it looked and worked as good as a new one. Once done, the remote central locking started to work. So, all problems fixed and much cheaper than going to a main dealer.
