Apprentice Scott and present Scott in the same picture 👶 👷🏻‍♂️ Today marks the start of the Scottish National Apprenticeship Week, so I feel sharing my apprentice journey is fitting. I started my apprenticeship over 15 years ago now. I attended college and learned the theoretical side of stonemasonry while working with Hunter Clark. All thanks to my late grandad, who managed to get my foot in the door. I’m going to be honest, the first couple of years were tough. I joined my class a month late and was behind everyone else. I struggled to grasp the basics and questioned whether it was for me. However, I persevered, and things all started to click! I even won Apprentice of the Year in my third year. On reflection, I owe a lot to the lecturers who helped me, my tradesman, and those around me who helped along the way If there is one thing I can pass on to individuals interested in a career in construction, it is that there’s great opportunity out there if you really want to make a career.
