Willow Trees: I am getting a lot of calls to wasp nests in trees, Only to find its a willow tree, small black aphids will occasionally single out a particular tree to drink the trees sap. They will then secret honey due which is very attractive to wasps who lap this up to feed. you will often find lots of wasp and other insects around the ground and branches of the tree. There is not much a pest controller can do to help, other than advise to stay clear of the tree or spray the tree with a horticultural soap to deter the aphids. If I do have to come out to visit a tree I do have to charge a £25 call out sorry.
