Anyone following my posts will know that rats tend to run on the same route all the time. By doing this oils from their fur build up along the route causing what is known as smear marks. These smear marks can become quite pronounced over time. Recently when dealing with a long term rat issue in an industrial unit I requested that a stack of boxes on pallets was moved out as I expected that the rats were using the boxes to climb to and from the cavity behind the concrete block walls. It's clear to see from the picture that I was correct and the rats had been scaling the 7 foot wall. A number of control methods were put in place and the infestation was quickly brought under control.
