This earth wire has clearly been chewed by rats probably to help enlarge the hole that gives them access to the underfloor of this house in Brighton. Rats do chew wiring and the first that people will know of it is that the fuses go. In extreme cases fires can develop often in lofts where the smoke and smell will not be noticed until its too late.
