Powerflushing. Something you may have seen advertised or offered by plumbers and heating engineers, you know it is maybe something to do with your heating, but perhaps you’re not really sure what it is or why it is important… What is Powerflushing? Power flushing is a cleaning process designed to remove sludge, rust, and other debris from inside a central heating system. Power flushing can take several hours or even a whole day - depending on the age of your heating system, when or if it has been power flushed before, and the number of radiators you have. A machine called a pumping station is used to push old water out of the system and introduce new water until the water runs clear. Your engineer might need to use some different tools to loosen and remove particularly sticky sludge. Radiators are tackled separately.
