TESTING, TESTING. A good toilet paper should start to break down as soon as it enters the toilet bowl and continue to break down through the process of flushing and flowing to the underground drainage system. If toilet paper retains its form once flushed, or collects into some kind of processed pulp, blockages will almost certainly occur. So, the advice is simple, before the worst happens, go and test as many different toilet papers as you can. Put your toilet paper in a jar or tub and do the 20 second shake test. If it breaks up into bits, excellent. But, if it retains its form, change your paper!
