Is my asbestos roof dangerous?

All Asbestos is dangerous, however, roofing sheets are made from Asbestos Cement, which while still hazardous, does not release as many fibres and is classed as relatively low risk.

Do asbestos cement products have to be removed?

No, asbestos cement products are very durable and are likely to last for many years. However, if they need to be removed this can be done without a licence or specialist firm, although care must be taken to minimise any fibre release.

Can I remove the asbestos myself?

Asbestos Cement Roofs are often very fragile and not weight bearing so we do not recommend anyone without experience to carry out any roofing work. Do not take chances with Asbestos and NEVER walk on Asbestos or Asbestos Cement.

Can I dispose of the asbestos myself?

If you are a homeowner, you are quite within your rights to dispose of the asbestos yourself, however, you will still need to abide by the strict guidelines laid down by HSE to dispose of this product safely and correctly.

How will you dispose of the asbestos?

As we have a waste carriers licence we can either transport the sheets to the nearest licensed waste site, or arrange for a licensed asbestos removal skip company to site a skip at your location for safe disposal of the asbestos cement. It is necessary to comply with the special waste regulations 1996.
