If you're looking for better-insulated windows or doors to warm your home for less, some of the technical jargon can be a bit bamboozling! One of the most important things to ask about is the "U-Value" - which is a measurement of how good a material is at insulating. It's an excellent way to compare how well different windows and doors will keep in the warmth. U-Values are calculated by the amount of energy which is transmitted through the material. So a window or door with a LOW U-Value will transmit less energy and therefore you'll lose less heat through it. A window or door with a HIGH U-Value will transmit more, so it will let more heat out and cold in.
