There are a few things to do before the arrival of your chimney sweep. Clear the area around your fireplace and remove any ornaments etc. Make sure your stove or open fire has not been in use on the day I come to sweep your chimney.

Birds nesting in chimneys can be a major problem causing smoke to fill the room. Also, nest material is very combustible and could cause a chimney fire. By getting your chimney swept will remove the nest. However, if birds keep returning on an annual basis, you may want to consider having a bird guard fitted.
