Today for #internationalwomensday we are putting a spotlight on all the inspirational women at Coastal Recycling. We’re particularly proud that females are represented across every part of our business; from senior management, drivers, operations, administration and environmental monitoring.nnAlthough the recycling and waste industry is still largely male dominated (the stats aren’t easy to find, but it’s roughly 17% women), we’re pleased to say that 43% of our senior management team are women and we’re seeing an increase in women working in operations and transport.nnSo why are females largely underrepresented in recycling and waste management? It used to be seen as ‘dirty’ industry but surely tackling the world’s environmental issues head on make it one of the cleanest and greenest industries out there? It’s also reported that women are apparently more likely to manage recycling in a domestic setting, shouldn’t their influence and engagement in a more eco-aware society should be harnessed to drive a more balanced industry?nnWhatever the reasons, for today, let’s give all the women working in our industry kudos and respect for working towards a more sustainable and equitable recycling and waste sector.nn#IWD2023 #womeninwaste #embraceequity...
