We are doing a serious of posts to highlight some of the greatest places to visit in Falkirk Top Places to visit in Falkirk - Part 1 CALLENDAR HOUSE AND PARK This is an excellent site to start any tour to the area because it displays the various historical layers of Falkirk and offers you a better understanding of the areas you will visit later in the day. The Callendar House exhibition was much larger than I had thought, and I had only set aside an hour, which is sufficient if you don't spend too much time in each room, but if you have the time, you might want to add another 30 minutes. Every key period of local history has its own dedicated room, from medieval origins through Roman invasion and industrial expansion - and the greatest part? It is completely free to visit, which is fantastic because it is a true jewel. It has the sense of a museum, and there is a lot to see! The museum is housed in Callendar House, a 14th-century mansion surrounded by lush grass. You pass into the Georgian kitchen as you walk through the displays, which may be familiar to Outlander fans as it was utilized as the Duke of Sandringham's House in Season 2.
