The majority of heat loss from traditional sash windows is from the gaps around the sashes between the beading and the face of the sash. Over time the sashes can become poorly fitted and gaps can appear at the top of the window where the top sash has 'dropped'. All of this contributes to heat loss and draughts. The solution of draught proofing is very straight forward, it doesn't effect the traditional appearance of the windows and is extremely effective. The other benefits are that the windows slide very smoothly and security is enhanced as well as noise being reduced.
