FAQs

How much will it cost me?

View Answer Due to factors such as the size, location, access of the tree and under lying features (ie fences, green houses and ponds etc.) it is impossible for us to give you a price over the phone. However, We offer a FREE no obligation quotation following a site visit arranged at a convenient time to you.

How soon can you do the work?

View Answer If your tree needs attention for safety reasons, we will make it our priority to get to you as soon as possible. However our lead time for tree work is approximately 3 weeks. It will take a minimum of 6 weeks if you live in a Conservation Area or your tree has a Tree Preservation Order ( TPO ) on it. This is due to planning permission having to be filed with the local planning authority to carry out certain work.

What happens to the tree waste?

View Answer None of the tree/plant material we remove from your site goes into landfill. All the branches that can be are put through our wood chipper and recycled into woodchip/mulch. We take this to our holding yard where the chip is 'turned over'to help it break down evenly. After 6 weeks the woodchip/mulch is ready to go back onto borders as soil improving mulch.

What if my tree has a Tree Preservation Order covering it?

View Answer Under the Town and Country Act 1990, it is an offence to "cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy" your tree without Local Planning Authority permission. We can apply for permission on your behalf to carry out the required works completely free of charge.

Is there an ideal time to prune my tree?

View Answer There are many species of trees and most can be pruned through out the year but there are a few exceptions. Prunus species such as Apple, Cherry, Plum and related trees should be pruned either during winter when the tree is dormant or after flowering to reduce the risk of bacterial infection, this can also help increase fruit production. Species such as Maple, Birch, Beech and Hornbeam should not be pruned in the spring to avoid rising sap loss (Bleeding), which although not considered damaging to the tree can be unsightly. Species such as Magnolia and Walnut should be pruned at the end of summer when in full leaf but before leaf drop.
