FAQs

How long does epoxy flooring take to set and dry?

The setting and drying time for epoxy flooring depends on several factors, including temperature, humidity, and the specific epoxy formulation. In general, epoxy floors may be ready for light foot traffic within 24 to 72 hours, with epoxy floors drying to the touch within a few hours. However, full curing and maximum strength can take up to 7 days or more.

What is a standard commercial floor thickness in the UK?

Standard commercial floor thickness in the UK varies based on the specific requirements of the project. Generally, epoxy resin floors have a thickness ranging from 2 to 3 millimetres for thin coatings and up to 5 millimetres or more for self-levelling and mortar systems. The thickness is influenced by factors such as the intended use of the space, the level of traffic and load-bearing capacity required, and the condition of the existing substrate.

How long do epoxy floors last?

The lifespan of epoxy floors is influenced by several factors, including the quality of installation, the type of epoxy system used, and the level of maintenance. In commercial and industrial settings, well-installed and properly maintained epoxy floors can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years or more. Regular maintenance, prompt repairs, and adherence to recommended cleaning practices contribute to maximising the longevity of epoxy flooring.
