Last week we held our annual ACORN awards, which celebrate the Murphy colleagues who have lived and breathed our core values. Now we’re shining a light on the winners in each category and the actions that made them stand out.nnOur ‘Continually Improve’ value means we continually look for the gap and take opportunities to improve. They can communicate ideas and be energized to drive impactful change around them.nnThis year’s winners were Bryan O’Sullivan and Ben Hatch who are currently deployed as part of our Surerus Murphy Joint Venture in Canada.nnTo negotiate Canada’s steep slopes, which are outside of normal pipeline installation tolerances, Brian and Ben initiated a sideboom lifting programme to simulate lifting on slopes up to 45 degrees. Using an ISO standard they set up a lifting block in the yard and over the course of two weeks, completed a very detailed measurement programme to develop a number of lifting charts.
