So why have your wiring tested and certified???nnThis video shows why;n nThe customer was having a boiler change when the plumber reported getting a shock off the pipes.nnOn investigation some socket fronts had been changed by the previous owner and they got the live and earth the wrong way round. Normally this would trip the RCD or blow the fuse but the earth from the electric board had failed and the electric cur rent was passing trying to earth through the GAS PIPE. Yes that is the gas pipe (isolated and vented first) causing the arcs and flames.nnIt had been this way for several months with the owners getting shocks off the sink and pipesnnAll metal work in the house was carrying 220 volts!!!nnFortunately the old boiler had been leaking and was directly above the sparks distinguishing them. nnHad an up to date consumer unit been fitted this would not have happened, had the wiring been checked this would not have happened, had the sockets been changed and tessted by a compoetent electrician this would not have happened.nnIf you have an old fusepanel with rewirable fuses please get it upgraded, if your wiring has not been tested please get it tested.
